About Western Wildlife Institute

Rapid Response Solutions

After more than a decade in business we have found that virtually all clients have one common need, the need for speed. Typically projects cannot begin until wildlife issues are addressed and delays in the start of projects can add lots of costs and often times delay eventual revenues.

We have focused our services on Rapid Response Solutions. We quickly determine necessary steps and work each one rapidly to ensure the most efficient approval processes. Regulators often have set times for their approval processes such as 30 days for review. This may seem like a common sense approach but in practice we generally can conduct site assessments within one day of being contacted and then will work weekends and nights as needed to ensure that your project is submitted as quickly as possible while ensuring that it meets the standard needed for approval rather than waste any time with back and forth fixes.

Owner Attention

The owner of the Western Wildlife Institute, Bill Given, personally takes the lead and executes all projects himself. We have had opportunities to bring on layers of employees but we prefer to provide only this top level of attention to ensure that you receive the highest level of expertise at all times. You will not be sold on senior experience only to have a newly trained seasonal employee performing the services. Instead you deal strictly with the owner/President who does the work for you and will be there years down the road as institutional memory for all the service provided.

Experience

Bill Given has been operating the Western Wildlife Institute consulting services for more than 11 years. Prior to that he has worked for the Colorado Natural Heritage Program at Colorado State University, The Nature Conservancy, and the State of Maryland Chesapeake Bay Program. Bill also has a rare educational background with a Master’s degree from Johns Hopkins University in Environmental Studies and Wildlife combined with undergraduate degrees in Economics and Business Management from North Carolina State University. This diverse background provides the foundation for understanding issues from our client businesses frame of mind as well as the science point of view of government regulators.

Specializing in economic development issues with rare wildlife we have often developed innovative solutions that provide needed protection to wildlife and allow for economic activity simultaneously, creating scales of efficiency for clients and reducing workload on the government regulators. Forming long standing relationships with government agencies helps ensure that efforts are done correctly on the front end and that approval processes run smoothly. We have worked with many federal, state and local agencies on a wide variety of projects.
